Mẹ nên làm gì khi trẻ sốt? (Ảnh minh họa)
Theo chuyên gia khoa nhi sốt không phải là bệnh mà là triệu chứng, nếu sốt không làm trẻ khó chịu, bứt rứt bẳn rẳn hoặc biếng ăn thì không nên can thiệp, trẻ có thể hết sốt tự nhiên và nhanh khỏi các bệnh nhiễm trùng. Sốt là phản ứng của cơ thể khi không may nhiễm virus, vi khuẩn. Khi con bị sốt nhiều, cha mẹ cần lưu ý một số điểm sau:
Không cho con uống thuốc hạ sốt quá sớm
Khi nhiệt độ vẫn dưới 38,5 độ thì cha mẹ chưa cần cho trẻ uống thuốc hạ sốt. Kiểm tra nhiệt độ cho trẻ bằng cách đặt vào nách là chính xác nhất. Không đo ở miệng trán hay hậu môn, cũng không nên dùng cách cộng trừ 0,5 độ như ngày trước nữa.
Khi trẻ sốt nhẹ ở mức 37 – 38,5 độ chỉ cần cho con uống nhiều nước hoặc bú mẹ nhiều hơn và cởi bớt áo cho trẻ, thay bằng đồ mỏng thoáng khí.
Tuyệt đối không lạm dụng thuốc động kinh
Khi thấy con sốt cao kèm theo co giật đã khiến bố mẹ lo sợ nên cho con uống thuốc hạ sốt sớm hoặc xin bác sĩ kê đơn thuốc an thần để đề phòng. Tâm lý của bố mẹ là sốt co giật sẽ làm ảnh hưởng đến não của trẻ. Tuy nhiên khi nghiên cứu theo dõi lâu dài không thấy có cơ sở việc này ảnh hưởng đến não của trẻ. Do đó bố mẹ không nên lạm dụng việc cho con uống thuốc thần kinh.
Phải biết ngay cả khi uống thuốc này cũng không có tác dụng với trẻ nếu cơ địa bẩm sinh hay co giật. Thêm vào đó hiện nay cũng không có thuốc nào phòng được sốt cao, co giật cho trẻ.
Tại thời điểm trẻ co giật, cha mẹ thường có hành động dùng đũa, chèn ngón tay vào để trẻ không tự cắn trúng lưỡi mình. Tuy nhiên điều này là không nên. Thay vào đó nên đợi con hết cơn rồi cho khăn mỏng vào giữa 2 hàm răng của trẻ để ngăn ngừa cơn sau, rồi mang trẻ đến bệnh viện. Khi trẻ bị co giật, cha mẹ cần bế nghiêng trẻ, giữ đầu thẳng để dôc đờm dãi chảy ra ngoài, tránh cho trẻ bị sặc, không nên vuốt hoặc day ngực con.
Cẩn trọng khi cho trẻ sử dụng thuốc giảm sốt
Về chọn thuốc hạ sốt cho trẻ
Hiện nay có 2 loại thuốc hạ sốt thông dụng là paracetamol và ibuprofel. Paracetamol sử dụng nhiều ở các nước Châu Á, còn Châu Âu dùng ibuprofel do bên họ không có dịch sốt rét. Chuyên gia khuyên mẹ nên sử dụng paracetamol, vì lúc xét nghiệm chưa biết bé có bị xuất huyết hay không, nếu dùng ibuprofel mà bé bị sốt xuất huyết có thể khiến tình trạng sức khỏe nghiêm trọng hơn.
Về khoảng cách sử dụng thuốc thì paracetamol là 4-6 tiếng còn ibuprofel là 6-8 tiếng. Tuyệt đối không lạm dụng thuốc, dùng xen kẽ cả 2 vì liều lượng 2 loại khác nhau. Paracetamol là 15mg/kg còn ibuprofel là 10mg/kg. Chưa kể cha mẹ có thể nhầm thời gian uống tiếp theo dẫn đến thuốc có thể gây tác dụng phụ.
Khi cho trẻ uống thuốc giảm sốt nên để con mặc đồ thông thoáng, mở cửa để căn phòng có nhiều không khí hơn, không đắp chăn cho trẻ nếu con cảm thấy lạnh có thể dùng khăn xô bọc quanh người trẻ.
Không tự chia liều nhét vào hậu môn của trẻ
Cẩn trọng các điều sau khi sử dụng thuốc hạ sốt đặt hậu môn cho trẻ:
- Phương pháp nhét thuốc có nhược điểm là hấp thu thất thường nếu trực tràng có phân thì tác dụng của thuốc càng ít.
- Thuốc nhét vào hậu môn của trẻ thường dùng khi trẻ không uống được thuốc hoặc bị nôn ra.
- Khi sử dụng loại thuốc này phải đúng liều lượng hướng dẫn, không được bẻ 2-3 viên nhét cùng một lúc. Phải biết khả năng ngộ độc thuốc qua đường đặt cao hơn so với đường uống nhiều.
- Tùy vào trọng lượng của trẻ để bác sĩ đưa ra lượng thuốc phù hợp, các liều lượng phổ biến lần lượt là 80mg, 150mg, 300mg.
Có nên sử dụng chườm lạnh, miếng dán hạ sốt?
Nhiều cha mẹ có thói quen dùng miếng dán hạ sốt hoặc khăn ướt chườm đầu cho trẻ lúc sốt nhưng hiệu quả thực tế không được cao, nhiệt độ của trẻ có thể giảm xuống nhanh trong 1 giờ đầu, sau đó thì trẻ vẫn sẽ bị sốt lại. Bôi dầu hoặc miếng dán còn ảnh hưởng xấu đến da của trẻ.
Đặc biệt, nếu trẻ bị sốt do viêm phổi, nhiễm khuẩn, chườm lạnh sẽ khiến trẻ dễ bị nhiễm lạnh và viêm phổi nặng hơn do tăng khả năng sử dụng oxy lên.
Thay vào đó, khi trẻ lên cơn sốt mẹ nên lau khăn ấm toàn thân cho trẻ, đặc biệt lau nhiều ở trán, 2 hốc nách và bẹn. Thay khăn khoảng 2-3 phút 1 lần để trẻ hạ nhiệt.
Trường hợp trẻ uống hạ sốt mà thuyên giảm, mẹ nên đưa con đến bác sĩ nhi khoa để có chẩn đoán chính xác tình trạng bệnh trẻ mắc phải.
